Travel Tips And Directions

Driving into St Andrews from anywhere except the East Neuk coast will bring you into the town on the A91 from Cupar or Dundee.

After cresting the hill past Guardbridge, you will see the famous skyline and finding your home in St Andrews for the next few days could not be simpler.

On reaching the town, drive past the playing fields on your left (behind which is The Old Course Hotel) and the university buildings on your right. After crossing the roundabout and driving through what used to be the railway bridge cutting, continue for a few hundred yards until you reach the City Road roundabout, City Road being the road on the right leading up to the bus station. Check the map in the "Location" section.

Turn right into City Road. Half-way up the hill, take a sharp left into Abbotsford Crescent, then immediately bear right into Howard Place. Park as soon as you see a space!

Street parking in the area of Hope Park is free of charge, but difficult to find. On a bad day, you may want to try the parking area west of Murray Park on the other side of North Street, or, having dropped off your luggage and clubs at the flat, you can drive down past the R & A Club House and the Golf Museum in Golf Place to the car park at Bruce Embankment. Alternatively, you can return to the large public car park you saw at the entrance to the town just before the old railway bridge.

For those of you arriving by train at Leuchars Station, having perhaps arrived earlier at Edinburgh International Airport, you can complete the short journey from the station into St Andrews by taxi . The taxi companies have vans as well as cars and are all well used to accommodating golfers with clubs and luggage.

If your keys have been left for you at Golf City Taxis, please contact them on +44 (0)1334 477788 or via www.golfcitytaxis.co.uk.

Alternatively, Club Cars (www.clubcars-standrews.com) and St Andrews Taxis (www.standrewstaxis.com) are both excellent taxi companies.
